Easy Strawberry Lemonade

July 3, 2018 Recipes 0

We have been having quite a scorcher of a July here in Utah, and from what I hear, so is a lot of the country. We had a week straight of temperatures at or above 100 degrees and I did not take it very well. If I could have dived straight into a pool of this strawberry lemonade, I would have.
The last thing I want to do on a hot summer day is prepare and eat a hot heavy meal. I’d much rather have a crisp salad or big bowl of ice cold watermelon.  And of course, lemonade is absolutely mandatory.

I have the easiest and freshest recipe for strawberry lemonade. My not-so-secret secret? It actually starts with store-bought lemonade. No need to squeeze a bunch of lemons, the hard work’s done for you. Add some macerated strawberries, water, and ice and you’re all set. No one ever needs to know how easy it was to make, I won’t tell if you won’t.
I’ve provided a recipe below, but feel free to play around with the ratios to your taste. It’s a hard one to mess up. There’s plenty of hot summer days left, and plenty of opportunities to cool off with some strawberry lemonade.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (100 grams) sugar
  • 1 liter lemonade
  • 1 lemon, sliced for garnish (optional)
  • Ice

Instructions

Combine the strawberries and sugar in a bowl. Use a fork to mash the berries into the sugar. It’s okay to leave the strawberries in large chunks, but you want the sugar to be incorporated into the berries. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
In a large pitcher, combine the strawberry mixture with the lemonade and water. Adjust the ratios to fit your taste. Add the sliced lemon and ice.
Note: Use a natural lemonade, like Simply Lemonade, for a more homemade flavor.
